About

I am Yvonnie DuBose. I am a life-long learner and like you, I am in the on-going process of decolonizing my mind. I am a cisgender black woman, mom to 3 free, black, homeschooled children, daughter of Barbara Joe DuBose (and Steven Weaver), the daughter of Elizabeth (and James Douglas) DuBose, the daughter of Fannie Patience (and Pete Collins) Guillebeaux, descendants of the Balanta people living in Guinea-Bissau and the Mende people living in Sierra Leone.

I have earned a Bachelor’s in Business Management, Master’s in Nonprofit Management/Specializing in Fundraising, a Silva Method Instructor/Coaching Certification, and Racial Healing Practitioner Certification. I continue to serve and grow as Self-Realization Coach and JEDI (Justice, Equity, Diversity and Inclusion) Community Builder.

I believe in whole health wellness (mental, physical, spiritual, emotional and economic wellness) and self-realization as a prescription to healing and growth. I visualize self-sustaining communities, re-connected tribes, and varying cultures living side-by-side in liberated, cooperative cities and states, void of human hierarchy and accessible to all. That is what I work for.

I love this work that I do! As a certified TRHT (Truth, Racial Healing, and Transformation) Practitioner and Restorative Practice Coach, I have studied and practiced race relations and racial healing under Dr. Gail Christopher, Dr. Joy DeGruy, Monica Haslip, Yakini Ajanaku, Imani Barbarousse, Lozen Brown Bear, David Ryan Barcega Castro-Harris, Jose Silva, Righttobe.org and The Elders of PISAB (People’s Institute for Survival and Beyond). My methods are interpersonal, intra-cultural and cross-cultural.

After 15 years of evenly defending my blackness in Corporate America, I decided that my passion for diversity and culture, my appreciation for the human journey toward self-realization and my patience for building bridges and communicating possibilities belonged somewhere beyond a space focused solely on building wealth. Since walking away from that existence, I have enjoyed 12 years educating and supporting youth on their journey to becoming independent, responsible, and free-thinking adults. For 30+ years, I simultaneously managed an Intuitive coaching practice that focused on self-realization and whole health wellness.

I have now combined my passion, education, experiences, skills and talents to focus my attention and efforts on inspiring and supporting individuals and communities seeking racial healing and equity.

The individuals I serve are on a personal journey to dig deep for understanding and acceptance of self, while also being committed to self reflection and open to growth.

The communities I serve are seeking balance, lasting solutions and real change. I support their journey with practices that require true vulnerability, deep reflection and commitment to action. Together we repair relationships and lifestyles from the inside out.

I have proudly served communities within Chicago, Evanston, Skokie, Lake Forest, Highland Park, Cook County, Lake County and more. I have facilitated community circles, workshops, and trainings for Chicago Public Schools, Cook County, Illinois Department of Children and Family Services, YWCA, Chicago Youth Symphony Orchestra, Community Partners for Affordable Housing, Garden Clubs of Evanston, Rotary of Highland Park, KPMG, Hyde Park Suzuki Institute, Safe States Alliance, ReVive Centers of Chicago, and many more.

I have served as a subcontractor/co-Facilitator for Chicago TRHT (Truth Racial Healing and Transformation), YWCA of Evanston, NCHE (National Health & Collaborative for Health Equity), and New Roots. As a result, I always have access to an amazing and diverse team of Practitioners ready to support the communities I serve in a myriad of ways.

The work I do is deeply rooted in healing. Using engaging workshops, circles, and presentations, my intention is always to meet the community where it is, while challenging and supporting movement towards its goals. The process can be tender, challenging and rewarding at the same time. The results are improved communication, deeper reflection and active collaboration, as well as stronger commitments, expanded comprehension, greater accountability and an effort to meet important cooperative community goals.
